Guest Speaker: Erik Hanberg

Last Wednesday in my TINST 207 class we had Erik Hanberg as a guest speak. Erik Hanberg is a entrepreneur and is well known for publishing his own books online. He shared his life experiences and journey of writing his own novels and publishing them online through Amazon. He spoke about how easy it is to know publish your own book online in a click of a button. Erik also describe how before if he wanted his book published he would have to find an agent, marketing team, and get approval for publishing. Now you can market your own book by using social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. This made me think about the music industry and how many artist such as Childish Gambino, Macklemore, and Nipsey Hustle are all successful independent artist. Erik Hanberg main point was sharing his experiences of how the internet has altered and brought him success. Overall, his presentation was really intriguing and motivational.

3 thing I would never purchase online!

These day you can could buy almost anything from the internet from groceries to buying a home in Hawaii. We live in a virtual world where you can buy anything from a click of a button. I personally make many purchases on the web. Mostly clothes, books, tickets, and make up. I really don’t make any big purchases on the web I usually just go to the store or buy it in person. When I think of three things I would not purchase on the internet it would be a house, prescription medication, car, and any expensive item. I would definitely want to go into my house and do a thorough walk threw before buying it on the internet. Anything could be wrong with the house mold, roofing, and possible damages. Medication is another item I wouldn’t want to buy on the web. It could be a placebo,  and with medication I would want to be extra safe because I would be putting it inside of my body. Lastly, any big purchases that could be a car, jewelry, or a laptop I wouldn’t buy on the web. I would rather make these purchases in person. For one I would get to personally see what I’m purchasing live. I would be able to take it home the same day and not worry about shipping damages or returns

The Online Scavenger Hunt

Mondays class was very fun and exciting. We had an online scavenger hunt where we identify and answer 19 question in a group a three. As a group we decided to divide the questions so we can complete it faster. Each group member had 3 questions each. Collectively we worked really good there was no conflict, everyone helped on another and assisted when a group member was stuck. The scavenger hunt questions consisted of finding a house in on Willow in University Place between the price of 250,000-300,000 had to be 3 bedrooms. This only took about 3 minutes which was easy to find. The hardest question to answer was the professor’s middle sister maiden name. We checked the professor’s Facebook and also ran numerous background checks. Finally, in one of the background checks it listed his sibling and we went with the one that had a different last name. Overall, I had a blast doing the scavenger hunt. Also, it did make me think about all the information you can find on the web about yourself or someone else. It made me think about how careful you need to be now days on what information you put out there in the web.

My experience creating an HTML webpage:)

I would first like to thank YouTube for its existence. Secondly, I would also like to thank Ahsan Uddin Shan who’s a YouTube subscriber for making a video about how to create a html webpage on a Mac. I first tried to use the class instructions to create html page which was a failure in my case. I do not have a Windows lap I have a Mac so it was a little more difficult for me. So I had to do some research. With the assistance of YouTube I was able to complete my html webpage smoothly!!This assignment has given me a glimpse of what it takes to create and design a webpage and trust me it is not easy. Although the processes had wasn’t fun, it was really cool to see the finish product of making a webpage. Above in the two images you can see that I was able to add a tab title and a body message.
